Privacy
KataJau is run by one person. This page says what is recorded, why, and for how long, in plain words.
Usage measurement is optional
We are trying to find out whether a catalogue of plans is useful to anyone. To tell, we need to count how many people looked at a plan and how many asked to book one. That counting is optional, and it is off until you say yes.
You have not been asked yet on this browser.
If you say no, everything still works — you can browse every plan and send a booking request exactly as before. Nothing about your visit is recorded, and you are not counted in any of our numbers.
If you allow it, what is recorded
A random number is stored on this device to recognise the same browser across visits. It is not your name, it is not an account, and it is not linked to one. Alongside it we record:
- which plan pages were opened, and when;
- how you arrived at a plan — from our catalogue, a search engine, a link someone shared, or directly. We record which of those it was, not who sent you;
- which category or group size and budget were used on the catalogue, if any;
- that a booking request was sent, and which of the above it followed.
That is the whole list. We do not track you across other websites, and there are no third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site at all.
Booking requests
When you send a booking request you give us your name and phone number, and anything you type in the note. That is so the business can call you back with the answer — it is how the booking happens, not measurement, so it is collected whether or not you allowed measurement. We share what the business needs in order to answer: the plan, the date, the number of people, your name, how to reach you, and your note.
The business also keeps a list of the requests you have sent it, so it can see when you come back. Its staff may add private notes and labels to that list; you never see them, and they are not used for advertising. Your name and phone, and those notes and labels, go on the same schedule as the requests themselves, below.
If you use the KataJau app
The app needs an account. With it we keep, for as long as the account exists:
- Your account: the email address you sign in with, and your password, stored only as a one-way hash.
- Your details: the name, phone number and pricing category you last used, to fill in your next request.
- Saved plans, so they are there on any phone you sign in on. The plans you recently looked at stay on your phone only.
- Reward points, kept separately at each business that runs rewards, and the rewards you use. Points can only be used at the business that gave them.
- Messages between you and a business. Only you and that business's staff can read them. Notifications about a message say who wrote it, never what it says. Messages about a request are deleted 90 days after the request is finished; a question about a plan, 90 days after its last message.
- Reviews, if you write one: shown on the plan's page under your first name and the month. Reviews are not open in the app yet.
- Notifications: if you allow them, your phone's notification address, so we can tell you when a business answers; and which notifications you have read.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or by asking us. How it works, and what is kept.
We do not sell any of this
Nothing here is sold, rented, or given to advertisers. There is no advertising on KataJau.
How long it is kept
- The identifier on your device expires after 60 days.
- Browsing records that carry that identifier are deleted, or stripped of it permanently, 90 days after we finish reading the results.
- Your name, phone number and note are deleted from a booking request 90 days after it is finished — completed, declined, cancelled or expired. The booking record itself stays, without anything identifying you.
- If you use the KataJau app, the name and phone number you last sent a request with are also kept with your account, to fill in your next request. Each request you send replaces them, and you can ask us to delete them by calling +977-9868826406. The deletion of a request's details above still applies to the request itself.
- Counts and totals that identify nobody are kept — that is the point of collecting them.
Changing your mind
Use the buttons above at any time. Turning measurement off removes the identifier from this device and stops any further recording. Clearing your browser's cookies has the same effect.
